Phase 3 Technical Development Forum
Date: Wednesday 26th October, 2005 Location: Burleigh Court, Loughborough
This event presented an opportunity for phase 3 UKCC sports to progress issues from the previous month's event in Leeds. sports coach UK staff spent time with individual sports identifying the current status of their existing Qualifications system against the UKCC criteria and key topics were covered (see below). It was mentioned that:
"Phase 3 sports are in a very unique position in having time to be able to develop and implement the UKCC whilst embedding the UKCC principles. The learning gained from phase 1 and 2 sports UKCC experiences is extremely beneficial in strengthening the endorsement submissions of phase 3 sports and this will ultimately be to the advantage of coaches on the ground".
Topics covered by scUK staff were as follows:
Colin Allen, Key areas within the sport's self assessment process in building towards a UKCC delivery plan in relation to UKCC stages of development and key timelines.
Belinda Beaver and Andy Gair The elements within each Development stage, with attention focused on the most effective sequence of development. Sports shared their current experiences and were able to learn from phase 1 and 2 sports feedback.
Amanda Batt What the UKCC will mean for the coaches on the ground. Time was spent identifying how each sports key priorities are and and how this will impact on their coaches and what, if any, issues will de-rail these priorities. Possible solutions to minimise the impact on the 'wipe out' factors were discussed and tabled.
The event was well received by those in attendance and presentations are available to view below.

The following 'phase 3 strategy' document gives an overview of the key milestones that need to be achieved when developing the UKCC. You will note that Timeframe 1 has been completed fully in relation to attaching timescales to the targets. Timeframes 2, 3 and 4 have not been included, it is intended that after the self assessment and action/delivery plans there will be an opportunity to work with the phase 3 support team to add relevant timescales thus aiding a development strategy.
